Coleraine have been fined by the Irish Football Association for objects thrown towards the Ballymena United goalkeeper. The incident occurred during Ballymena's 3-2 away defeat at the Coleraine Showgrounds on 11 September.
The club issued a statement expressing its disappointment. "We would like to place on record that the throwing of objects towards players is unacceptable," Coleraine said. "We are bitterly disappointed that a very small minority have acted this way and brought a negative light on to the club and now cost the club financially."
Coleraine warned that strict action would be taken against any individuals identified throwing objects. The club reminded all supporters that such behaviour breaches ground regulations.
For Ballymena United, the match was part of a difficult start to the season. They currently sit 9th in the Premiership with six points from seven games. Their recent form reads DDLDL, with no wins in their last five outings. The side drew 1-1 with Dungannon Swifts last time out and now prepare to face bottom side Portadown at home this Saturday.
