Ballymena United have strengthened their squad with the signing of defender Michael Glynn, who joins the club following the expiration of his contract at Cliftonville. Glynn, 24, spent two years with the Reds, scoring four goals in 75 appearances and winning the BetMcLean Cup in 2025. He has also had spells at Dungannon Swifts, Glenavon and Larne, where he won two Irish Premiership titles. Glynn has expressed his excitement about joining Ballymena United, stating that he is still young in his career but has played a lot of games in the league and is eager to pick up more medals and push for Europe. He also praised the quality of the squad, saying that there are a lot of great players that he has first-hand experience of playing against. In other news, Ben Doherty has returned to Coleraine from Derry City for an undisclosed fee on a two-year deal. Doherty scored 36 goals in 86 appearances during his first spell at the Showgrounds between January 2019 and the summer of 2021. He then opted to join full-time outfit Larne before moving to his hometown club Derry in January 2023, where he worked under current Bannsiders boss Ruaidhri Higgins. Higgins praised Doherty, saying that he brings real running power and energy, a real drive and goals and assists. He believes that Doherty is in a period of his career where he will have an incredible determination to be successful, and that he is arriving at a club who are ambitious and a team he feels is on the rise.
